New Year – New Perspective

FullSizeRender

A message of hope from our Executive Director

Each new year offers us a year’s worth of human emotions. Joys and sorrows, laughter and tears, successes and failures, abundance and scarcity, gains and losses, all this and more will be experienced by us within the next 12 months.

The new year also gives us opportunities to reflect on our past.

This photo offers us two perspectives within one picture. Let me explain…

Our brain defaults to telling us we are looking ahead down the wooded path. In doing so one may fear the unknown of the long walk alone, while another might embrace the opportunity for a peaceful moment of solitude.

But if we told our brain this is a picture gazing backward, it would have us turning ourselves around. Perhaps we would notice the tire tracks and suddenly we see where we’ve been and how far we’ve gone down the wooded path.

Perspective does that for us. Perspective allows us to look back on our personal journey through 2023 and look ahead to 2024. I know for many pastors and church leaders 2023 was challenging. There were joys and sorrows, laughter and tears, successes and failures, abundance and scarcity, gains and losses. I know this because we faced them together as a ministry partner.

I invite you to join me in taking a moment and seeing how far you traveled down life’s path last year. I hope it empowers you to move boldly into 2024 with a sense of pride in all the accomplishments you’ve achieved in 2023. I’m looking forward to our continued partnership in ministry and cheering you on as you achieve greatness in 2024.

Happy New Year my friends!

Jack Brooks
Executive Director
